Today we want to talk to you about a topic that is very close to our hearts at 6punto9, respect for the environment and the small gestures we can make to respect our beloved mountain and the slopes that give us so many emotions every year!
First of all, let’s follow the rules! On the websites of the various districts or national parks you can find the regulations of the same, having a general smattering of the behaviors to be implemented, combined with common sense is the first step to respect the vegetation and maintain the balance of mountain ecosystems.
Secondly, it is imperative to try to minimize the environmental impact during our adventures on the snow and here we can all make a difference with a little organization and a few small gestures, here are some tips.
We take away our waste and do not throw garbage on the snow, it happens too often to find bottles or aluminum foil on the side of the slope.
If we go around with a backpack we can carry a bag where we can throw our waste, also at almost all the departures of the chairlifts we can find a basket where we can throw some paper that we have in our pockets, alternatively all the shelters are equipped and increasingly also with separate collection.
We use reusable water bottles instead of plastic bottles, in order to reduce the production of waste. Let’s set an example for others and encourage them to follow us, you will see how often small gestures are enough to promote correct behavior and more and more people will follow our example, a great satisfaction!
If you smoke, it will seem superfluous to say, don’t throw cigarettes in the snow. Today there are very convenient pocket ashtrays on the market that you can always carry with you and empty in the trash at the end of the day.
Choose carefully the clothing and equipment you use for snowboarding. We opt for brands that are committed to sustainability and production with a low environmental impact. We look for recycled or biodegradable materials and minimize the use of chemicals that are harmful to the environment. You can also respect the mountain even before getting there, finding alternative solutions to the car to reach the slopes, these can be “car sharing” platforms such as public transport, or even just being able to organize yourself with friends in order to make the trip with as few cars as possible, this will help reduce CO2 emissions into the environment and preserve the entire planet, Not only our beloved mountains.
Finally, we actively contribute to the conservation of the mountains by participating in cleaning and awareness-raising initiatives even in summer. Join local groups that organize events for the cleaning of the slopes or trails, or promote environmental education among your snowboarding buddies. Sharing your positive experiences can inspire others to care for the mountain, even just being seen picking up waste from the snow can move others to do the same!
