Today, weather forecasting has become a priority necessity of everyday life.
Throughout history , generations of hunters-fishermen-farmers, Aristotle, Leonardo da Vinci and Galileo Galilei have had their say on this subject!
Today , through the observations and recordings of 11,000 weather stations on the ground, about 1000 radio sounding stations at altitude, 7,000 commercial ships, 6,000 buoys at sea, 3,000 airplanes, satellites in geostationary orbit and in polar orbit, we can safely say that forecasts between 24 and 48 hours can be considered quite reliable and those from 3 to 7 days are perhaps less safe but usable in principle. at least as a trend line.
In our history as snowboarders we have gone from various sayings such as: “red in the evening good weather hopefully” to looking at the sky or reading magazines and newspapers up to the BOOM of the weather on TV by Colonel Giuliacci!
Then the internet arrived and when we could we went to watch it on the PC.
With the smartphone event we have become real addicted to the weather: in season we watch it even 5 to 10 times a day to check if the forecasts for the day we have planned on the snow remain confirmed!
All this thanks to the countless well-made applications related to this topic.
Two tips for appropriate use:
– If you want to have fun, look at the weather forecast but don’t let yourself be influenced too much. Many days without sun are still nice for snowboarding and if it snows it is a real magic
– If you want to freeride, it is essential to check the forecast and know how to read the most important parameters
