Get ready to join us in the magic of the Norwegian fjords with splitboards, breathtaking landscapes, northern lights and wonderful company
One day in late April 2023, in the Norwegian fjords, we began an adventure we will never forget. This is the story of our splitboard camp with 6punto9, a story full of discoveries, new friendships, lessons learned and a deep connection with the nature that surrounds us.
The journey began on the evening of the arrivals on Norwegian soil, with a meeting and aperitif in the beautiful town of Tromsø. In the meantime, the other teachers and I went to do the big shopping for dinner and the following days; Thanks to the previous year’s experience, we already knew where to find the best salmon and the cheapest prices.
The house and the breathtaking view
In the meantime, Jessica and the other cars accompanied the participants to our “home”. And what a house: a splendid anchored boat, of imposing dimensions. It was amazing to see the teamwork in carrying all the groceries on board. The arrival of the participants, with amazed looks at the location and the dinner almost ready, marked the beginning of something magical. After eating, chatting and explaining the camp program, we toasted to our adventure and allowed ourselves a well-deserved rest. How can I describe the panorama when I woke up, with the first rays of sunshine illuminating the mountains, turning everything into a living painting? Our boat, anchored in a dream place, gave us spectacular views every morning, becoming the starting point for the adventures that awaited us.
Discovering the most hidden corners by splitboard
Every day, with our splitboards, we explored hidden corners of the fjords, following the skilful tracks of the masters of 6punto9, our Norwegian guide and Armando, our Italian mountain guide. The camp proved to be perfect even for those who were at their first experience, thanks to the valuable advice of our instructors who taught how to move on the snow with the use of shovel, avalanche transceiver and probe, and to deeply understand the mountain. The peace that was breathed, away from the daily routine, made every moment special. Among the fjords, we had plenty of time to savor the beauty around us, breathe fresh air and let ourselves be surprised by the wild nature.
The magical atmosphere
Our boat was not just a place to sleep, but a real cozy nest, from which to admire breathtaking views. Here we stretched, prepared dinner, picked up the guitar and sang at the top of our lungs, played cards, took freeride lessons, drank a few beers, talked about this and that, in short, experienced simplicity in company. The fact that everything was organized, including travel by rental car, made the trip even more pleasant and carefree, allowing us to explore freely and enjoy every adventure.
We are not the ones who wake up at 5:00 in the morning to hide; We are the ones who wake up calmly because we are on vacation, a hearty breakfast and then, with the right timing, we set off. But most of all, what made this trip unforgettable was not only the wonderful places we visited or the exciting descents. It was the warmth and sharing with people who, in a short time, became part of our history. This week was a real detachment from the world, a unique opportunity to disconnect from the routine and fully immerse yourself in a real life experience, where time seemed to stand still and every moment was an opportunity to grow, laugh and create unforgettable memories together.
