Dressing incorrectly could ruin your day or weekend!
If you have never snowboarded and want to try only a few hours (better with the instructor) use garments that allow you freedom of movement, waterproof and use various layers (underwear, long-sleeved shirt, sweatshirt and then jacket) in order to regulate the heat by adding or removing one or more garments.
Always bring a spare touse if needed during or at the end of the day.
If, on the other hand, you want to do a little/a lot of snowboarding, as in any sporting activity that takes place in the mountains, it is important to use specific garments.
These must have these characteristics:
- impermeability
- breathability
- heat
Impermeability
The degree of waterproofing of the materials used for snowboard clothing is measured with waterproof rating.
Most trousers and jackets on the market have a waterproof rating that varies between 5,000 and 30 thousand millimeters (5-30K).
Curiosity:
The “static column test” involves placing a one-inch diameter pipe vertically on top of a piece of material.
The tube is filled with water progressively until the underlying fabric begins to pass it through and at that point the height of the column is measured in millimeters, which will be the waterproof rating of that specific material.
Breathability and warmth
The advice is to buy a snowboard jacket that is warm but very breathable because it must keep your body warm, but also allow sweat to dry in a short time.
Other useful tips:
As for trousers, remember that heat on the legs is not as crucial as on the torso to keep the whole body at temperature, which is why trousers have less insulation than jackets.
Read the labels inside the garments carefully, as they contain all the characteristics of waterproofing, warmth and breathability.
Snowboard jackets and pants must have openings for ventilation. They are zips that are generally located under the arms and on the inner thighs and have a mesh lining to prevent snow from entering. Essential for regulating body temperature.
We believe that these are the most important elements for jackets and trousers that you should take into account.
By pattern/color/pattern/etc… the choice is yours!
