Today we are talking about gloves. Let’s dispel a myth right away: there are no indestructible gloves, we use them often and therefore they wear out very easily.
It is also true that if you treat them well they can last longer!
So let them dry near heat sources and not on top, every now and then take care of them with creams(for leather ones) or spraysthat make them more resistant and waterproof and store them in dry places!
Please don’t forget them in your backpack-car-helmet-at the bar
The best material is definitely gore-tex, but sympatex, membra-therm and dk dry are also excellent!
Try to buy them from snowboard brands because they will use suitable materials and study the shape and comfort suitable for us riders!
To finish the shape.
It is well known that the Muffola, defined in the dictionary as “knob with only an independent thumb” keeps the hands warmer than the classic 5-finger glove.
However, for the record, there are also “summer” and light mittens, medium and those in gore-tex and goose down for freeride descents in Alaska or for those who are super cold!
As a practicality, with a little training, with the mitten you can do almost everything you do with the 5 fingers.
The choice is yours!
Another detail is the length. Some gloves are shorter on the wrist and go under the sleeve of the jacket (under) and others over (over) and are longer with an elastic band at the end to tighten them over the jacket.
The latter version is essential for children and also very useful for the older ones, it does not let the snow through.
Some useful but not essential information:
- the possibility (screen grab) to use your smartphone or other device without removing the glove
- the cord to be tied to the wrist so as not to lose the glove when it has to be removed
- glove with underglove so that they can be used together on colder days and only glove on hotter days and only underglove on very hot days
- Color to match your outfit
